Beef & Bird Bundle Recipe Inspiration
Maybe you are already the cook of your dreams. Maybe you have some ideas on what to do with your local meats. Maybe you are just excited to have the meat, but have no idea where to start!
Here is the start!
Pasture- Raised Chicken
If you didn’t already know, pasture-raised chicken is
*higher in vitamins A, D, & E;
*higher in omega 3s (lowers blood pressure, brain function, and supports artery health);
*lower in saturated fats and higher in amino acids (building blocks for protein);
*raised on grass and sunshine, and cared for by our family.

Storing Frozen Chicken: Whole chickens can be frozen for one year from the package date. Parts can be frozen for 9 months from the package date. This is a USDA recommendation. If you store it longer, the taste or texture can change.

Local Beef
Here are helpful tips for your beef:

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature to ensure you are not overcooking your beef.
140 degrees F is a “medium” steak, 160 degrees for well done (but hey, do that beef and yourself a favor and eat it medium).
160 degrees F for ground beef ensures it is cooked thoroughly
For the best quality, store beef for up to one year and use ground beef within four months. If kept frozen, it will be good forever, but the texture may change. This is recommended by the USDA food safety… I think we’ve all kept things in the freezer longer than we have intended.
Ready for more local meat or tell a friend?!
While our meat supplies last, Cheyenne (beef farmer) and I (chicken farmer), will continue to provide Beef & Bird Bundles monthly. Soon, a link will be available for July bundle options with some different cuts, including beef brats, patties, and chicken breasts. Stay tuned! We will share more info via email and social media.
